The grigri is a specialty item... I love it for big wall, especially as a back up when I jumar. It is also great when your partner is hanging on the rope for hours figuring things out. This is also useful when you find yourself climbing for over 14 hours and you are losing your wits while belaying...
Also, it is great for when I get beginners to belay me. "It is true that it does not replace ATC skills, but it does increase safety."
Since it is expensive, I recommend it only for those who have a specific use for it such as big wall or teaching. Don't buy it unless you need it or have a big bank account.

am a very happy climber because of this rope. I love how the Flyer is versatile since I do various styles of climbing. I have used it for mountaineering and trad.
The Flyer is belay friendly, offers little slippage and show remarkable durability. I can honestly say that my rope still can be mistaken for new despite this heavy use.
It is also a beautiful rope. I own the blue and it looks like a soft blue/gray. The color is calming and yet it still stands out against the rocks.

Overall, I highly recommend the Flyer II for anyone interested in owning an all around rope.
