I purchased these shoes to replace my purple spires. It took about a dozen extended wearings (3-4 hours), but once stretched they are perfect. The perforated upper actually works, my feet stay cooler than in the spires. I'm pretty sure edging is better in these shoes than the spires, but my comparison is skewed as I am comparing brand new gambits to my old worn out spires. They've served me well so far for multi-pitch trad routes and long gym sessions, no need to pop out of shoes between climbs.
