The NEW Demorto! 5 out of 5 stars

I've been climbing in Evolv shoe's for over 3 years now and I have to admit these are by far the best I have worn. Having Morton's toe, I've always had a problems with wearing tight shoes. Normally I'd wear a size 10 or 10.5 Evolv shoe, well with the Demorto's I am now wearing a size 9! Because of the symmetrical toe I am able to get a snugger fit which not only helps me edge but the heel fits better too. The new Demorto is made with leather instead of synthetic which is a nice touch that allows a more form fitting fit. In addition to just fitting great the shoe preforms wonderfully at toe jams and foot jams. I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone that has morton's toe or is just looking for a versatile shoe that rocks. Plus, the Evolv rubber is BA as always...

ADD: The rubber soles on these boots is getting really annoying. Slightest bit of moisture on rocky surfaces and put these puppies away!

I work at a Gear Shop that sells primarily Asolo footwear. I checked these boots out after a recommendation by the GM at the time. Initially i was impressed by how fast they broke in. The lacing is most excellent, i have never had a boot that laced up the way these do. I have climbed a couple easy routes in them and find them to edge well and smear. I would highly recommend someone interested in making sure they get a great fit. If these boots were too small or too big they would not perform that well. The negatives, the rubber seems to lack on moist rock. I love vibram soles mainly because they grip even when the rock is wet. Another downfall and a blessing at the sametime is the rubber toe box. This is great in rocky terrain, but sitting next to the campfire WATCH OUT, it will heat up with out you knowing it and the next thing you will know you will have a delaminating shoe (customers that have had problems). Overall, i would say that these boots are great for approaches, light backpacking, winter travel, and super soggy spring days. The price is not the most appealing, but hey, when you work at a Gear Shop the Price really doesn't matter!

Undercut Cliff to the HEAD! 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: suilenroc, 2007-05-05

While belaying my bud, paul, at the Red River Gorge, Roadside... Paul was trying to clip the 5th bolt on A.W.O.L. when he dropped the rope, next thing i new paul was yelling FALLLLLINGGGG. Then as the line became taut i found myself sucked up under the cliff that i was belaying next to. WHACK!!!! My helmet (half dome) stopped the fall. A few people watching said "funny, i never thought about wearing a helmet while belaying, good thing you did."

I always make an effort to strap on my helmet before i belay. My experience at the Red made me glade that i spent that extra buck and got a great helmet!

I would highly reccomend these shoes to any intermediate or advanced climber wanting to find a snug, great all around, badass edging, kick face smearing, rippin smedging shoe. I have had these for several months and i would never buy a diffferent brand. I don't think they will last any incredible amount of time... no great shoe should! They will easily make a believer out of anyone who has never worn a pair of slippers. GREAT SHOE. Great company!
