Almost essential for multi-pitch. The Pros are you can belay the second directly from the anchor and it is autolocking. Another pro is you can rappell with it. The cons are it is very hard to lower the second if need be and not very easy giving out slack if belaying a leader. One other pro is that it is cheap. If doing multi-pitch I would definitely consider buying one.

A very aggresive shoe. To really get the performance out of these shoes you need to get them TIGHT. Rubber does wear out quickly. As everyone says, great for bouldering or steep overhanging. The downward shaping toe is great for toe hooking and hanging on to micro edges. However you really cannot smear very well. I will wear this shoe on any overhanging route, but would rather go barefoot then climb with these on anything more than 100 feet (did I mention they are tight?).

Great shoe all around. Price you can't beat. Smearing is average, while edging is surprisingly excellent. Comfortable, if you get the right size. My first pair were a little too tight and they needed to be removed immediately after a climb. I climbed 4 to 5 days a week on these and they held up for about 8 months. Highly recomed this shoe to beginners and ,well, everyone.

These were my first pair of shoes so I am partial but they are above all comfortable. The rubber is thin and will wear out quickly. Not the best edging shoe but can smear with the best of them. You can easily resole the shoes yourself and they are so comfy that they would be my shoe of choice on multi-pitch climbs or all day climbing.

I have been using the Calidris for almost a year and it has been wonderful! It is the most comfortable harness I have ever used. It is fully adjustable and able to carry plenty of gear. Also it is great if you are going to be hanging in it for extended periods of time.
