Bastille, West Buttress, 1976An after high school jaunt up the West Buttress of the Bastille some 30 years ago. I recall this being the crux. I have to laugh at the stylish attire and the good old EBs! Photo take by Eric Ming or Mark Holt.

Redgarden Wall, Ruper, 1976This is a shot taken back in 1976 of the third pitch of Ruper 5.8. This is known as the "Ruper Traverse" which is nice and airy and great for photo opportunities. Mark Holt took this shot one afternoon in November after high school. Those were the days!

Reaching High on The Bastille CrackWhen Cracklover came to town, of course we had to climb one of the all time greatest classics in Eldo. The Bastille Crack. Here's the obligatory shot of me at the crux.

The Rincon Wall ApproachHere we are surmounting the scree field on the approach to the Rincon Wall. The Rincon Wall provides excellent moderate, short climbs. This picture was taken on a recent, balmy winter day in January 2006.

'First pitch' of Purple Haze. This is me on the 'first pitch' of Purple Haze. Although Rossiter claims that the route can be broken out into two distinct pitches, I was unable to find a place to set up an anchor and ended up linking this with the second pitch of 'Friends in High Places'. The general consensus was that this pitch was fairly stout for the grade.
Photo was taken by my wife, Sasha.

My first trad 10.Here I am shortly after the crux on the Rincon Wall's Five-Ten Crack. Although the RPs below the crux (not pictured) don't inspire much confidence, I was able to fish in a nice small cam in the crack above the lip. This was my first 5.10 trad lead; and my first 10 trad onsight - woohoo!

In Memory of AngusI placed this memorial one year after Angus' death at the top of Redgarden Wall after climbing Anthill in October, 2005. The desire to complete this simple act is why I started climbing. The cannister contains some info about him and his accident as well as some paper and pencils. If you feel like it, leave a note or just give your name and the date of your visit. For the location, pm me.

P. 1Credit to my friend Thor for the photo!!
This is me pulling throught the roof on the first pitch of Genesis. This is one of my favorite pitches in Eldo to date!!! The lie-back just below me is awesome fun moves get you to a stance under the roof where yu can get in a SWEET red Alien. I have to stem really high to reach around the bulge and get my feet over. The face moves frome here are great. Good holds and small feet, bolts for pro and some fun climbing up a flake to finish it off!!!
