Actually they are flying ants. There were billions of them all swarming looking for mates to do the nasty with. I could only stand to be on top of the summit for 5 minutes, lucky the ants didn`t sting. Quite an unusual occurence to see so many flying ants congregated in one location.

Steve Waite going for the second free ascent of **The Elite Republican Guard 15 metre Oz grade 24 on Mt. Tibrogargans Halfway House terrace. This climb starts off a large terrace after climbing 90 metres up the east face of Mt. Tibrogargan in the Glasshouse Mountains SE Queensland Oz. Lee Skidmore rapping the 6th pitch of our new route Airtime Over Pumicestone 245 metre 21. Mt. Tibrogargan is littered with these wind blown huecoes.

We had climbed an easy trad to find that there wasn't anywear to rap off at the top. (without leaving some cams behind). We found a suitable tree after a bit more climbing and hiking,and rapped down. About half way down I looked down and saw a sign (not much use at the bottom) " Absieling prohibited in this area"....opps.

This is my second attempt at the crux of this climb. I had just cliped the bolt when I fell. It's a nice little climb that lays back at about five-ten degrees.
