Stab in the Dark.

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Stab in the Dark.

Nice slopy problem in the Ryan Campground area. Jump to a high hold then finish on slopers with a nice high step to make those holds feel less secure.

Left of Three Bulges and a Baby.

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Left of Three Bulges and a Baby.

This is a fairly new route to the left of Three Bulges and A Baby. Good moves with a bouldery crux down low. Probably goes at 5.10+/5.11-. It only looks run out so get on it!

Enjoying some slopers

Average Rating = 3.38/5 Enjoying some slopers

Tough grainy seam with some slopy holds and abrasive rock. Maybe this problem should have been called butt crack seam.

Echo rock.

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Echo rock.

Many of the classic climbs at Echo Rock are visible in this photo. It appears that someone is at the top of Stichter Quits, the nice looking dike on the left side.

Stop chipping!!!

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Stop chipping!!!

Noticed that someone was chipping holds at Beardsley when I was there on 11-23-03. Found this note on the backside of the Wiley Thompson boulder. Leave the chisels at home.

Last bolt on Fearless Leader.

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Last bolt on Fearless Leader.

As more and more land gets eaten up in Phoenix area, the birds have less habitat. Consequently many areas that used to not have bird sh*t now have signs of the excrement. The last bolt on Fearless Leader is surrounded by a substance other than chalk. Perhaps these areas will be subject to seasonal closure in the future to preserve bird habitat (like Cochise Stronghold, The Summit Crags, and Granite Mountain).

Comin'to getcha, two!

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Comin'to getcha, two!

Another Halloween pic posted a little late. Taken with a canon powershot a70. Added a little contrast to make it look creepier. Quaker Oats is a great moderate climb with excellent rock.

Climbing the arete.

Average Rating = 4.08/5 Climbing the arete.

The initial crack section seems to be the hardest part of this climb but the mental climbing above can be sketchy.

Climbing the thin edges of Loafer's Choice.

Average Rating = 3.72/5 Climbing the thin edges of Loafer's Choice.

Very nice climbing for an urban park. Unfortunately we've lost the freedom to climb on the Lower East Wall. At least the rest of the park is open for now.

Climbing on the naked edge.

Average Rating = 3.89/5 Climbing on the naked edge.

Encroaching subdivisions and golf courses are the only thing that detract from this excellent climb.

Todd is Close to the Edge.

Average Rating = 3.73/5 Todd is Close to the Edge.

Nice route with a pond and small waterfall in the background. Several people were doing some pool hoping from above while we climbed there. Apparently there are several pools you can jump into as an alternate descent into this canyon. We chose the dry and warm descent.

The jump across move.

Average Rating = 3.71/5 The jump across move.

Exciting and exposed. It's possible to rap off the summit register but some would consider that a point of aid. Recommended for historical purposes only. Thicker soled shoes could prove to be useful.

Removing a big bro.

Average Rating = 3.50/5 Removing a big bro.

Shelley uses both hands to work the piece free on the third pitch of the Mace. Probably wasn't needed but I had to place it somewhere to justify bringing it.
