Description:

APPROACH--2 miles west from the 6,700 foot West Fork of the Ruth Glacier landing strip to the 7,800 foot base.

TOTAL TIME--10 to 21 days

VERTICAL GAIN--12,500 feet

DIFFICULTIES & DANGERS--The first 3,000 feet are sustained 50 to 70 degree snow and ice, with vertical and overhanging sections, on a double corniced ridge; the last 4,000 feet is a climb up a steep mixed face.

CAMPS--On Casarotto's solo first ascent in 1985, he had five bivouac sites.
