Description:

APPROACH--6 miles west from the 6,700 foot West Fork landing strip on the Ruth Glacier to the 10,000 foot base of the pass.

TOTAL TIME--14 to 28 days

VERTICAL GAIN--10,300 feet

DIFFICULTIES & DANGERS--Up to 60 degree snow and ice from 12,400 to 13,400 feet (Lotsa Face); some parties finish the route on the 50 degree East Face, rather than the long traverse across Thayer Basin to the Northeast Ridge.

CAMPS--11,800 (pass); 12,400; 13,900; 15,000; 15,570; 14,300 (Thayer Basin); 17,200 (Northeast Ridge).
