Ascent Notes for: Munginella - 5.6 popular Average Rating : 3.90/5

Good route--did not see any dirt or loose rock here. My only complaint was that I wish I had climbed Commitment instead; Munginella didn't seem worth it. I agree that it's over-rated.

Ok, this route is WAY over rated. This has got to be the dirtiest climb I've been on in my 21 years of climbing. Huge dirt clods and grass cram the cracks (I can only assume it's due to its proximity to the falls and the mist that's created by them.) I guess if you're looking for a true "adventure" then this is the one though... If you value your life then WEAR A HELMET, cause when I climbed it a few years ago there was a LOT of loose rock and dirt... I assume this is due to the large amount of water that freezes in the water sogged dirt during the winter, which constantly fatigues the surrounding rock. I picked up one of the large loose rocks at the end of the last pitch to relocate it somewhere that it would be less likely to kill someone and it had four black scorpions on the bottom of it... That was a fun surprise to have on lead, holding on with one hand and holding a 20 lb rock in the other... Yay.

the first time i followed this route, it wasn't as fun....more fun on lead, lots of easy protection, lots of route options

Climbed this route with a buddy. Lots of face climbing between good holds to nice hand cracks to lie backing up dihedrals. Good route for the grade, protects wells.

Got lucky. 1st party there (3 parties of 2 behind). Swapped lead with JG. Did in two pitches. A 4" cam could have been usefull but we did without. Lots of fist sized rocks at top which are easy to knock down to parties below.

Got off route on pitch 2 and had to downclimb a traverse and an offwidth. If using Supertopos pay attention when leaving the first belay! Good clean cracks on pitch 1 get a little sandy towards the end of the 2nd pitch.
