Great first route at Smith

This would be a great first lead

Came back and I took a group of beginners for their first outdoor climb here. I started the kids a little to the left near the crack and it's more like a 5.6. A 5 year old in watersocks climbed all the way to the top.

The start is a little tricky but the rest of the way is easy.

Great confidence builder and great route for a first lead. The begining is a little tricky because there isn't much for foot holds but after the first bolt it's easy.

All kinds of kids and newbies were trying to get up this one. The start feels a little thin to me for a 5.6, and sure enough the 2010 edition of Watts' book now has it rated 5.7.

love smith, good lead warmup, agreed that hardest moves are at the start just getting to and through the first bolt.

Good confidence builder to get the head back into the game. The start can be a little hairy due to the severely uneven ground below.
