Description:

Start at a wide crack uphill from Handy Andy. Climb the crack to a tree belay. Upper pitches exist but arent recommended. This is an old school climb which is much harder then the grade given.

5 out of 5 stars Ascent Note

My partner led the thing as it was going from dusk to darkness. I started up in the dark. At least I had a headlamp.... I hadn't wanted to climb the thing, because I felt I was being rushed to get "one last pitch" in for the day, and didn't feel that was cool. A friend nearby offered to act as a cheater rock for me on the crux, and that gave me the motivation I needed. "I don't cheat." was my reply. After a quick review of the problem, I had the idea. I cammed that toe, hooked the upper corner with my left hand, pasted my right hand and foot, and in a sort of modified 4-point Gaston, off I went. "Oh my. You're strong!" says the motivational force. "You made that look absolutely pretty." I am glad I got the climb in, after all. We rapped off in the dark.
