3 out of 5 stars secret ledge

Last time I didn't have a problem with this climb, but I forgot the key to the crux. All I could remember was there was an important foothold. Turns out it's not that knob on the far right, it's a secret, invisible edge, just where you need it, but nigh invisible from above. Check for it on your way up, near the bottom of the upper face. It's really tough to go from the ledge on the left to the top without that edge. Unless, of course, you say "F that S" and come from below and go straight up. What? That counts. Besides, I went back and did it the right way after.

At the base, a massive land war between two tribes of giant black ants raged on for hours. Too bad those ants had no idea of the real danger: a single, small red ant bent on the destruction of both sides.

3 out of 5 stars aaaahhh!

Us: "Spider webs! Gross!"
Spiders: "Predators! Hide!"
Mosquitoes: "Lunch! Dig in!"
Giant roach thing: "How the &@^& did I get here?!"

Climbed the under-the-roof-but-not-a-roof-pull variant and the straight-up-the-juggy-face variant, but not the over-the-bulge variant. A gigantic beetle the size of a hissing cockroach (but with a different & strange abdomen) fell out of the trees on my wife's head. Good times.

3 out of 5 stars dirty!

This route is filthy, and I forgot my floor scrubber. Fun, though! Good flakey holds inside most of the crack, a couple of loose rocks inside the flake halfway up. Top of crack much easier if you lean right.

3 out of 5 stars nice move up top

The group I was with had me pretty psyched out, talking about how many tries it took (by climbers far better than me) so I went up with failure on the brain. But it turned out to be very easy except for one awkwardly-balanced move at the top. I'm not bad at being awkward (hurr!) so managed to stick it. Fun! Don't get psyched out, even if you think 5.(whatever) is above you; it's totally manageable if you're pretty balancey and okay committing to an awkward move.

3 out of 5 stars melted my shoes

This climb involved a *lot* of grunting for me. The blazing sun had really heated up the rock, so between that and furious smearing, I actually melted patches of shoe rubber.

3 out of 5 stars watch your fingers

someone had already burnt out the wasp's nest, but had to change some holds to avoid bits of broken glass.
