BIRDS!!!
Mid-way up before the first ledge there was two swallow's nests in the crack - baby birds were chattering like crazy upon approach. These birds are said to come back every year so this might be a seasonal suprise...

Smooth rock
Once you get started it is an easy route. The rock face near the dry pool is smooth and a bit tricky - going up the arete after the first ledge is straight forward, no problem

Pool Still There
The pool was a bit smaller but the climb was still fun - there are many variations.

It hurts
You have to be hard up to boulder here the entire rock is made from a caliche : cemented shell. It is sharp and not fun. Also it is right in the middle of a landscaped garden. There are signs everywhere not to climb becuse it is a sacred rock. I thought I would at least give it a go anyway since I was there...

Lazy
It really is just a warm-up route, ya know to get you in the climbing spirit. Once you get out of the trees on a hot day you will wish you had not climbed it though.

Bonus
Apple Vallley native was nice enough to let us climb after he set up a system on top. It would have been hell to lead climb for the first time becuse there were some very specific hand placements. A solid 5.10c - something I would come back and work on.
