like i said---

---all you whiney babies don't know how to treat a fine seductress like the Zephyr. she needs attention, pampering, love, gentle caresses. now she's pissed and gone home.

My rope was only used by an old lady to top rope 5.7's in the gym on Sundays after church......

So I talked to the Petzl customer service guy today.
He felt my rope was wearing pretty well and said that Petzl ropes
might wear differently then other brands I've tried in the past.
Fair enough.
While he thought my rope was fine, he is going to replace it to
keep me happy. Fair enough too.
I pointed out that while I didn't care about the fuzzing itself, but the jerky belaying and picking up dirt was what was really annoying me. Maybe the diameter+the fuzzing is the biggest problem here. I've used blue water, beal, and edelweiss ropes into the ground and the sheaths were still looking pretty good. (and they were 10.5mm ropes too).

So I think in the end I probably won't be buying a Petzl rope in the future (unless the new rope is awesome), but Petzl CS is pretty good, so Petzl will see my business again.

Fair enough. And kudos to the service.

Wish I had seen this 3 months ago!! I bought a Zephyr used it for two very short days and noticed it fuzzed up. I thought it might have been operator error but looks like several others have had the same thing happen.

I guess I will be returning mine to REI next time I get a chance.
