Not a good jacket 2 out of 5 stars

Review by: dwise, 2008-11-16

This jacket looks nice, but is not tremendously functional. It has no insulation, so it does not keep me warm at all. It only works well if you're active (skiing, biking, running). It's too athletically cut to layer underneath. I'm 6', 180lbs and have a size L. Sleeves are too long on the XL. It's a bit stiff for climbing--I find myself defaulting to climb in a thin fleece instead if it's cool out. It's not amazingly windproof and only somewhat water resistant. Besides, as I'm learning, there's no point in having a soft shell w/o a hood. In rain, the water drips down your neck anyway. I want to like this jacket. I have a lot of Mtn Hardwear gear and like it all--this jacket is the one exception.

Awesome light shell 5 out of 5 stars

Perfect for cutting chilly wind. This jacket is light, and if sized right, has room for a fleece underneath. I wear it when biking below freezing, and does what anyone would want from a lightweight jacket - keeps rain from getting in, and keeps the wind out. Great jacket.

Easily the best jacket I've ever owned. Athletic cut, fits and moves well, waterproof, wind- and abrasion-resistant. Looks awesome. Whoever said material goods couldn't bring happiness obviously never owned this jacket. Get it.

Waterproof and allows plenty of room for movement. Great for fall climbs.
