What an awesome tent! I've used this thing backpacking and mountaineering. It's held up to sustained 60 moh wind and 80 mph gusts when guyed out. it is a little small for two guys, but if you sleep nose to toes it works well. The weight is good, and the option to set up with the just teh poles and teh rainfly is great for summer backpacking and cutting weight. Teh dual door/vestibule is great and teh vestibules are actually decent size. I would recommend this tent to anyone. I would call it a solid 3 season tent if you know how to set her up right.

This is a great tent design for all the reasons listed above. I bought this tent primarily because of the two doors, two vestibules, easy setup, relatively lightweight, and the low price. I really like this tent, but here are some problems with it:

It's hard to get the rainfly taut. If you do manage to get it taut, this puts a lot of strain on the tent body which makes the door zippers difficult to operate.

The cloth tie-down points wick rain through the rainfly and the seam taping pulls lose in that area, so in heavy rains water can get in and drip drip drip right on your forehead! This has happened at two of the four tie-down points on my tent.

The mesh fabric rips easily.

The velcro tabs on the rainfly zipper covers are annoying and probably not necessary.

Sometimes the little plastic hook that is supposed to hold the bottom of the rainfly zipper together gets hooked on the edge of the rainfly or one of the guylines when flipped open.

The tent floor is very lightweight fabric, so I have some durability concerns. I use a footprint to extend the life somewhat.

Obviously this isn't a 4-season tent, so the fact that snow/sand can blow up under the fly and through the mesh is not unexpected.

All that said, this is a great tent.

Edit: I recently exchanged my ~2001 version of the REI Half Dome Plus Two for the 2005 version. Here is my impression of the changes: No annoying plastic hooks at the bottom of the fly zippers. Smaller gear loft. Different door shape that makes opening/closing more smooth, but also makes getting in/out more difficult. I think maybe the door opening is higher now? New fly color (better) with smaller logo (good), but now there are TWO logos (annoying). Color coded fly and tent body pole end attachment points allow for quick, proper orientation. The clips that attach the tent body to the poles are different. I liked the older ones better.

the absolute best backpacking tent you can buy for the money. It got editors choice for a reason, and there are probably more of these tents on the trail than any other. Roomy, reasonably light, and fast pitching, this tent has yet to let me down.

I love this tent. It's roomy enough for myself and a partner, and light enough for backpacking. I tend not to carry a footprint unless I'm car camping, and the floor has been holding up well and resisting moisture for the most part.

I'd recommend this tent to anyone.

If you're like me, and easily confused by anything requiring assembly, this tent is for you. Color-coded, only 2 poles, and it goes up in a snap. It's a decent size, though I haven't yet tried it with 2 people in. Love the dual vestibules for keeping stinky shoes and such in quarantine.
