Description
The Petzl Mens Hirundos Harness gives you the lightweight, low-profile design you need to tackle the hardest sport routes. Petzl didnt stop there either. They used a perforated closed-cell foam to pad this minimalist harness without inhibiting breathability. You wont sweat like crazy during a summer projecting sesh. The Hirundos Harness has four gear loops to hold all your draws and two Caritool slots to give it the versatility to take it on cutting-edge bolted mixed climbs in the winter.

2008 Hirundos

I watched one of my climbing partners don this 80's-green piece of dental floss for the better part of the spring before this 270 gram ball-hugger's siren call finally pierced my wallet. Any excuse to shed a half pound on the hike up to Yamnuska will do. After a season of trad climbing, a few days of ice and a long alpine route or two I believe that this is truly an excellent harness. Whippers are also handled with ease, as the skeleton seems to disperse a great deal of force. The gear loops are in exactly the correct location and twin ice screw clippers sit just behind the hip bone. I'm having trouble coming up with something negative to write, actually, which is somewhat bizarre for me.

The Hirundo is a great indoor or sport-climbing/red-point harness. This is not a good all-around or beginner harness. It does not offer great comfort while hanging or belaying. It is a minimalist, light-weight rig design to optimize freedom of movement. While climbing, I don't even notice that it is on. I would give this product a 5 if it was a little cheaper and more comfortable when hanging/belaying (even though I know it was not designed with comfort in mind). Also, keep in mind that it is sized on the small side... I usually wear a medium harness, but the sewn leg-loops on the medium Hirundo were just too small for my legs.
