This mid-top approach shoe features unparalleled comfort and support. Up front on the high-cut toe rand and in the rear on the cushioned heel, we've poured on a generous amount of Mad Rubber #5. The Fury frictions on any slab but has enough grip for dirt or rock on the trail. The low profile traditional dot tread sole keeps your edging precise and your feet sensitive and laces right to the toe for that performance fit. Keep the elements out with a double stitched all leather upper. Rigid enough for a strap-on crampon to cross that last snowfield before the pinnacle.
  • Sole: Classic dot tread sole, Mad Rubber Formula #5
  • Rand: 2.2mm Mad Rubber Formula #4
  • Midsole: Molded EVA
  • Upper: 3-D mesh ultra-breathable padded cuff, synthetic upper with rubber-impregnated poyester toe and heel areas
  • Construction: Double stitched, Padded heel cuff, 2.0mm lightweight brushed polyester foam sandwich lining
  • Entry/Closure: Lockdown lacing system
  • Available Sizes: US 3 to 13

Mad Rock Fury 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: gandolf, 2008-07-22

I wore the Fury's on a week long climbing adventure into the Zion backcountry. They performed great as a hiking boot and as a climbing boot. The rubber is really sticky. I even had to kick steps into steep snow, which the Fury's did with ease. I would suggest these boots to anyone looking for a beefy approach shoe. These boots are a little on the heavy side and are also sized small. I normally wear a street size 10.5 and bought a size 11 in the Fury's.
I also have a pair of FiveTen Guide Tennies. The Guide Tennies are a better climbing shoe, but the Guide Tennies do not hold up to extended hiking (the soles delaminate very badly). I have been very happy with the performance of the Mad Rock Fury's.
