Bolts, boys and bullshit. Kangaroo Point is THE urban crag. It offers a good range of quality climbs up an old quarried face right in the heart of Brisbane. The cliffs are twenty metres in height with numerous features offering edging, pocket pulling, overhangs and crack routes. Being the only real climbing area within sixty kilometres of Brisbane it is extremely popular with beginners and experts as a training area for the bigger crags. There are over 150 distinct climbs put up on this cliff over the last forty years. Being a quarry, the cliffs are quite loose in places but the Brisbane City Council has endeavoured to remove the choss with some success making the easier climbs safer. Because of this the climbs lack the visual appeal of a natural cliff but most offer excellent climbing especially in the harder and less travelled grades. Concrete bollards are situated along the top giving easy points for top-ropes and abseils. The cliffs are divided into two main sections. The Nursery Cliff on the upper right side and the Main Cliff which stretches along the river bank.
