The most interesting climbing spot in Western Ukraine is considered Dovbushevi Skalu. These are situated at an 1,5 hour drive from Lviv in the Carpathians' suburbs. The area is filled with numerous sandstone outcrops of up to 50 meters high, rock quality being similar to the one in Fontainebleau - grey and often polished rock with very technical moves. It is not exactly the most environment-friendly place as numerous holds were chopped and routes fashioned here for some competition climbing in the 90ies, however other routes are natural and often have good-looking bolts all ready to be led on.

You can find a small climbing community in Lviv that regularly visits Dovbushevi Skalu but also has several home climbing walls in Lviv for training and lots of enthusiasm and hospitality for the guests.
