About Cougar Canyon:
Closest crag to canmore. Tons of good routes many different sections |
Nearest town or city: | Canmore |
Directions: | Park in the cougar creek community. There's a parking lot just east of the bridge over the creek. The approach is VERY wet in the spring time but it is dry by July. You WILL have to cross the creek, in spring you'll get wet, but after June you can easily manage to stay dry. I'd recomend bringing two pairs of shoes. A pair of hiking boots to walk in with, and a pair of running shoes or sandals to wear when belaying. |

Access Issues: | No overnight parking in the trailhead lot. Random camping is not allowed at Cougar but see this link for drive in and backcountry options. http://tpr.alberta.ca/parks/kananaskis/wildland_bow.asp Mostly not free contrary to, as suggested below. |
