About Little England Wall (Road Area:
This is the large east-facing wall on the slope just above the east end of Atlantis(Road Area) that is so noticable on the left when driving down Hwy60 just before the tunnel. It is mostly trad with a few sport & mixed routes up to 10 bolts. It is a large wall, over 175' on some climbs with up to three pitches. Although a little loose in spots, the cracks, flakes, dihedrals, and aretes make for some extremely fun, interesting, and easily protected routes. Descend from rap anchor atop Charles Two / Anne. A single 60m rope rappel will get you to top of small ledge. We slung a small boulder with cordelette to rap the last 40' (which has been filchted twice now, so don't expect any! Please feel free to add some more webbing. Someone saw fit to add a bolt to Charles II which wasn't really needed, where a rap bolt would be). There is no easy approach to this wall. From the Atlantis area hike east upstream from the old dam to a point where a decent "use" trail with some cairns heads right directly up to the wall. |
