Description:

Take the Condor Gulch trail to the 'Overlook' railing. From here look up the canyon to the NW to the fractured face at its head. From the overlook, and go N up the streambed to the base of the rock formations. Climb up (4th class) to the huge chimney. The chimney is reached after about 25 feet of easy (4th Class) face climbing. Walk on the floor of the chimney N to where it starts to descend and this is the beginning of the 5th class climbing. Two bolts were originally placed to protect this easy lead. Belay from beside the large chockstone on top. Chimney up past a bolt and make the crux(5.8) moves into the tight chimney above. Climb third class up the right branch of a gully to its top. From the top of the gully, climb left into the waterchute and climb it past two bolts(5.6) to the top. A 3rd class scramble around the right side brings you to the crest with cliffs dropping down on both sides. Continue roped along the crest, over two humps(bolt on top of the second hump) and around the right side of a third hump. The ridge ends at the SE corner of H&L. Face climb to the bolt, then work up an exposed ledge that angles steeply to the right until you reach a large platform(bolt). from here climb the few feet to the second summit of H&L.
