About Lovers Leap:
| Awsome climbing on 400 to 1000 ft high Granite walls. Walls are covered with dikes (actually, horizontal "sills") that provide for great holds. The Leap campground is open as of autumn 2004, having previously been day use only. Bathrooms are open and the water is on. If your visit is on a weekend, bring your own toilet paper. Edit: There isn't a vertical wall or otherwise one inch higher than 600 ft, unless you're counting the approach too, then maybe. 1000 ft is a bit of an exaggeration I'm afraid. |

| Directions: | West of South Lake Tahoe on US 50. If driving east on US 50 the turn off is immediately right after Strawberry Lodge; go over bridge, turn left, and find yourself in the Lover's Leap Campground. The parking lot can fill up quickly on weekends. An alternate parking area is past twin falls on your right. Drive down the dirt road before the turn. This is about a 1/4 mile after twin falls. This parking area is actually better if you are climbing East Wall or Hogsback. |
