About Rock Mountain:

Parking and access is free. This area at one time was lightly bolted by a local climbing group, but is now part of a nature preserve. Hiking access is now organized with slightly maintained trails. I have never heard any complaints from neighbors about us climbing up there, but the signs now say no camping and there are absolutely no fires. Thanks!
Nearest town or city: Fallbrook
Directions: Rock Mountain is the prominant rock formation located about 10 minutes north of Fallbrook in the area often impropperly referred to as "De Luz". To get there, from Mission Blvd. head north on Pico/De Luz Rd. to the valley floor. Hang a right onto Sandia Creek Dr., then continue on Sandia Creek Dr. with a left at the "T" after the river crossing. Continue on this road for another ~5miles and keep your eye out for Rock Mountain to loom above on the right side (just after the road becomes privately maintained). The trail head is on the right at the base of the mountain. Ascent to the climbing area can be hot and takes about 30-45minutes. Please respect the nature, but look out for rattlesnakes! (There is a shorter route to the top but please refrain from using it, as it crosses through private property.)
