Description:

This is on the Lower Owls, and ends on the Roosting Ramp Ledge. From the Gem Lake trail, take the Lower Owls trail. Turn left when you ocme to the rock, and then right where possible to the big dihedral. Pipe Organs climbs the very unusual left wall of the dihedral via large deep grooves. P1 and P2: Climb the curving groove near the right side of the wall. This is one long 190' pitch to the large ledge, or it can be uncomfortably broken in to two pitches. The crux is the start chimney, which requires large gear to sew up.

P3: Three options here. Climb easily up the right side, or climb the fantastic hand crack just right of the belay(5.7), or climb the hand crack which widens in to a pod in the middle(5.8).

To descend, walk left along ledges to the large gully with a big dead tree. Follow this down to the approach trail.

A really starnge route - but fun. Deeply fluted rock on the first pitch (did the first two pitches as one to a good belay ledge just below the final cracks to exit) - some chimney action, hand jams, good stances and pro. I think we did the 5.7 crack at the top; we did the not have the pro to protect the 5.8 crack wich is a little wide.
