Black Arches Wall
About Black Arches Wall:
This crag lies above and left of the Slanting Cracks Wall. Roughly divisible into three sections, from l to r: an isolated prow, a face with a large r-facing corner slanting right, a 120' tall buttress, and to its right a steep wall with several vertical seams, cracks, and chimneys. |
Approach: | From the trailhead, head east through the Boulderwoods and continue along a fairly-good herd path to the Measles Wall. Walk along the base of the lower MW, then up to the Upper Measles Wall, then continue rising moderately and heading east, reaching a height of land about 15 mins. from the parking lot. The herd path continues along the base of the South Corner Cliffs to meet the "Diagonal Ramp," a steep slope rising up along the left end of the Black Arches Wall. To access the bottom of the cliff, clamber down a short bit of talus and head north along the base of the isolated prow. The only climbs to date lie on the buttress. |
