About McConnels Mills:

A few small crags lie scattered in the Slippery Rock Gorge of McConnell's Mill State Park (aka, the Mills). The two main areas designated for climbing are the Rim Road area and the Breakneck Bridge area. Most of the accessible and popular climbing is at Rim Road. These are small, sometimes dirty cliffs up to 50 feet high. It's mainly top roping and bouldering, with some lines that will take pro. There are bolts at the top of some climbs. DO NOT PLACE BOLTS IN MCCONNEL'S MILL STATE PARK. This is only allowed by those w/ permission of DCNR. It can get crowded on weekends, and there are some areas in the Mill that are closed to climbing. DO NOT CLIMB WHERE IT IS PROHIBITED If you are not sure if it's closed to climbing, ask a ranger, or just don't climb there. |

| Directions: | From I-79: get off at the 422 exit and head west for about a mile and a half. You'll see a brown sign indicating McConnell's Mill State park. Stay in the left lane, and take a left onto the park entrance road which is after you go under Route 19. Follow this road till you come to a T. Turn right and go to the next T. Take a right and follow the road down to the Old Mill. Make a sharp left, go through the covered bridge, and up the hill. Take the first right toward the top of the hill. You will find many pulloffs along the road, a kiosk, and a porta-john. Enjoy. |
