Kath, if you decide to come out this way sat, call my cel and let me know, so I'll know to come out, otherwise I'm going to be covering the extension on my climbing wall, which I framed up today. That shouldn't take more than a couple hours though. maybe 3, if I dawdle, You'll all have to come check out the attic wallie's majesty after CR sunday. I'm quite pleased. Tonight I climbed on it for almost two hours, my hands feel shredded.

In reply to: Dammit, how come no one every goes to Rumney when I'm looking for partners? Sorry, I was there Friday. We climbed well "below" you though. A .7, .8 and .9 at 5.8 crag. We walked to upper vader to find a ton of people 'nubier' than us and kept walking as somone explained to how to thread your rope throuogh chains when quick clips aren't there. After that, I decided I wanted to do my first multi-pitch and Jimmy Cliff was close. Clip-idy-do-dah it was. There were a total of 4 in our party and we had three ropes. We used two and broke into two teams of two. The only thing that made this "interesting" was that we only had 11 draws. I decided to lead the pitch, have josh second me, but leave all the draws. Then have Piotr pink-point the pitch and have Kendra clean it. Alone this was a great plan...or so I though. The only problem was when I reached the bolts at the end of P1...they weren't where I thought the would be from the ground. They weren't near the BIG TREE/flat spot, but on a little ledge 15 meters short of it. This ledge was not conducive to 4 people. Luckily, Piotr brought the two lengths of webbing that I told him to leave in the car. Were were able to anchor Josh and I at the bolts and Piotr and Kendra hanging 3 feet below us. Kendra gave me the draws back and I lead P2 and we repeated the process. The top was much more spatious than the frist belay. Things learned in this endevour: 1: 5.3 was a good grade for my first multi-pitch lead. 2: Getting to the anchors and having them be not where you though they would be isn't cool. 3: Rope management, even on this EASY climb is important. 4: The view kicked ass. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong, or should have done, or could have done better? FWIW, all the belay's and anchors were redundant and everyone was always attached with two locking biners. oh yeah, it was Kendra's second day on the rocks, but after cruising a 5.8...we figured she could make it up a 5.3. Jason

Jason sounds fine to me.. you hit a snag and dealt with it in a safe manner.. for multi pitch everyone should have a sling to attach themselves or be able to attach themselves with a clove/fig8/overhand on a bight using the rope to a n anchor.. that way if the ledge is too small you can move a bit rope management takes practice.. which.. i stll need to practice.. hehe ask jer when i get flustered at a belay and give up on it.. Rob if i remember to throw my shoes in the car tomorrow i'll call you when i leave work.. i should go to CR right now but i'm tired lol Jake

Hey there Mass climbers. I was at Den Rock today( Sat) and found a rope neatly coiled at the base of desperado. I picked it up and left a note there, so I thought i'd leave a message here to. PM me with a description of the rope and I'll get it back to you. Eric

good times at CR yesterday w/Jeff, Kathy, Pie, Dan, Shippie. good to meet kath's friend Erin, and then Frank. Jeff glad to see you up on the rock, glad the finger's healing. Took many laps on all the variations of Send Money, and got talked into leading "Excersize..." again. happy to show off the home wall later with celebratory beers in hand. Jeff I'll post up some of those pics you took with my camera. some didn't come out, dunno why. crappy cam.

A few pics from yesterday at CR, taken by Jeff, using my crappy but still functional vivitar 3350. jeff unfortunately about half of the pics you took got hugely overexposed...like I said, crappy camera. anyway here's a couple of harsh on "Send Money". struggling at the crux: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=52529 easy stance a couple moves below: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=52530 ...and a couple of me repeating the lead of "Excersize Left to The Reader", flexdex belaying. First clip: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=52531 Firing for the top. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=52532 Man that was a good day ;-) good peeps, good vibes, good climbs. Jeff, last weekend of june, I have a window of opportunity for away climbing, like camping overnight away. just FYI.
