In reply to: Now playing: In reply to: I know this sounds lame, but I'm looking into rock climbing from a different angle. Has anyone here ever heard of like grappling-hook rock climbing? Also, is it possible to build a rig with a grappling hook and then an auto-line reel, say, a high-powered electric fishing reel that raises you via monofilament fishing line or something? Are there methods like this only with different/specialized equipment? I'm a complete newbie, so please bare with me. Thanks! [Snip] The response to this post was priceless!!! :D :D :D
In reply to: just ask jesus to bring you up....now would be fine

In reply to: I know, one could start a whole thread on classic, only-on-rc.com photos, but I'll slip this one in here anyway. Bouldering in the gym, in a helmet! And taking a photo of it! And putting it on the internet! *snip photo * many universities require that any pictures that appear on the website include helmets. because, as mac pointed out, many insurance companies require helmets for everything.

I drove home from work yesterday with a motocross helmet on the whole way. I was trying my damndest to get someone, ANYone to look at me, but it was eyes straight ahead all the way home. WTF, people look at me like scum when I'm driving and smoking. Why can't I get a laugh every now and then.

In reply to: Try a helmet made of watermelon! YES! Dude, great idea!! It is on!! There is a guy on the side of the road on the way to work selling them too!. What do you think, a short fat one, or a long tall one? Kind of a chinese hat vs. a british guard kind of thing.

In reply to: Do you think I could pay less for car insurance if I show them a pic of me driving my car with a helmet on???? Where does one purchase a helmet for a car? Do they come in different sizes, or are they like football helmets with those little foam inserts to snug it up just so? Are helmets only for traditional models of cars? If I have a sports car, would a helmet be uncool? Lastly, wouldn't a big helmet block your view a bit? Or is there a windshield face mask thingy? Enquiring minds (well, one mind anyway...) want to know.

Is that tape holding your glasses together? That's hott. I myself use Krazy Glu, which I steal off punk-ass boulderers. So, is it true what Mrs. Parker (of Algonquin Circle fame) says?

Duct tape, yes. Super glue was not an option at the time. I am afraid I am too American to know what this Algonquin Circle thing is...

Dorothy Parker was a member of a literary circle of critics and such. Hung around at the Algonquin, they had a huge round table reserved for them. She has a few famous quotes, one of which was "Men don't make passes at women who wear glasses." Hence the question.

Back to the point of the thread. It's dated (from a resurrected thread) and it's so painfully n00bish- in a way that kinda makes me feel like a bad person for snickering, but well... yeah. Like that often stops me.
In reply to: Two thumbs up for Black Diamond from me as well. I love my trusty ATC, and I'm waiting on funds to get a BD biner. Yay for BD.
