In reply to: Hey Ron, you heading to Muir this weekend (12th), or RRG? I am wanting to head to RRG if you are still up for it. I am still waiting on a buddy from Ellitsville to let me know if he can go or not, but I would be up for car-pooling. Anyone is welcome. sam, muir is a new area down near the r.r.g. i am planning on going down BUT i cannot leave until saturday morning. if you wanted to link up at my place around 7 a.m. and drive down that would be cool. 8^)
In reply to: Redpointron, the 3 cabins being built along the road are by 3 seperate owners, who purchased thier land when Muir Valley was created. Respect thier privacy as much as possible. Drive by slow, wave if you see anyone. An amicable association between them and climbers must be maintained for Muir to be a success! Thankyou, Bruisebrother ( the sheriffs deputy) thanks for the info bruise....i spoke with one woman near the red roofed place on the way in and waved at a gentleman near the big building on the way out. trust me...i learned at the buford pusser school to "tread softly and carry a big stick (clip)". thanks again, maybe our paths will cross down in ky.
In reply to: Ron- I think I can make it to HH on thursday, let me know what you think. By the way great climbing this weekend. Eric thursday sounds great. want to meet around 2 p.m. when they open up. based on the forecast it should be about 150 degrees in there.... r.r.

In reply to: easton- when are you going to head down to RRG, I want to try my hand at some easy trad routes. Eric I am hoping to head there this weekend (12th). A buddy of mine may go along. If he doesn't and no one else wants to go, I'll probably tag along with Ron to Muir. Muir doesn't have much in my climbing range. I would like to hit some easy trad (easy for me is 5.5 or 5.6). 5.7 would be the top I would want to try without more practice. Eric, if your up for it let me know when you are free. The plan is to head down Sat. morning and back Sunday night.

sammy... i am not dead set on muir. it wouldn't be bad to go back. it is good and you would enjoy some of the routes. powers says there is some easier bolted climbs at rebel (a part of muir) but there is no guide online. would have to link up with someone to have them give a tour. maybe we could hook up with powers sunday morning and do that. we can play saturday by ear. it's allllllllll gooood. r.r. p.s. eric, check out the thread on redriveclimbing.com about snakes. my buddy eric g. (the dude in the i.u. vehicle) posted yesterday about a snake at the top of kampsight. remember that rattling / buzzing i heard? i know you love snakes.

Sounds good Ron and Eric. I'll plan on heading that way Saturday. I will probably stay in Ellitsville Friday night and catch up with you guys Saturday. Not sure if a friend will be coming along or not. Ron- I was checking the routes at Muir, and there were some that looked great. I am up for exploring. I just want to put up a trad lead or two if anyone is willing, and Muir looks a little tough for my skills. Eric, I thing the tunnel route is closed, maybe? I heard someone say something about it, but I don't remember what or who said it. I am up for it if it is open. Long approach, though! I'll be in touch tomorrow about when and where to meet up with everyone. Sam

Sam, I spoke with the fam and I think I can make it on saturday, my sis graduation is on friday night. In that case what time are you and ron leaving? Ill PM you with my new cell #. Ron- we are still on for tomorrow, TH. Glad to be going to the red, are you going both days or just one? I want to lead that 9 cleanly at Muir and take a shot at that first climb we did. Either way its on  I looked for the thread but im too computer illiterate to find it, but if that was a snake on that climb then maybe it was a good thing I could not get past that bolt. Nevertheless Im still going to climb it, snake or not. Eric

On a completely different note, anyone around here into aid climbing? I have moved into trad, though I still need a lot of practice/training, and I want to start looking into aid. I figure I could start buying gear now, so by the time I actually get to climb something, I'll have the stuff. Ron and Eric, I'm still waiting on my buddy to let me know, but I'll be in touch today one way or another.

In reply to: In reply to: I grew up in NW Indiana, but now live in CO. If any of you folks make it out this way PM me, I"ll climb witcha. Unless you're from Muncie... then I'll drink witcha, BSU 97'. Have fun folks... and come visit. KT If only I had seen this 2 weeks ago! I just got back from CO and did some climbing. It was awsome. I got to play at Garden of the Gods (a little), saw Eleven-Mile Canyon, Climbed at Taylor's Canyon with a local who is an awsome climber, and climbed at the place just above Golden a couple of times. Anyway, I am back and looking to head to the Red some time soon. If anyone is game in the next couple of weeks, let me know. place above Golden is called Table Mountain, if you make it back out this way try Clear Creek Canyon just west of Golden on 6. Better rock, better routes. Glad you had a good trip. KT

Yeah, he has climbed, and can lead belay, though he doesn't have a lot of experience. I'd say he can lead 5.6 or 5.7, TR 5.8 to 5.9. He has a bum foot right now, so he may just hang out or belay. I filled out the waiver and told him to do so, too. Sorry you can't tag along Greenspace. Let us know when you are back in the area. I'll definitely look at spending more time out west and we'll catch up. I will bring my camera, too.

another exciting weekend.... problems with windshield wipers in downpours, lowering off in downpours, orange feet, (lead) climbers with static lines :? & , more lowering off in downpours... this weekend had it all. i don't have the time to go into detail, but... sammy and eric had an excellent adventure on roadside attraction (and eric has the war wounds to show it) AND traddaddy if you are lurking around. you need to hook up with easton and show him some of those trad skills. he's dying to learn... r.r.

Yep, great weekend. Thanks Ron and Sportster! The lightning wasn't too bad 8^) The trad lead was great, can't wait to try out more. Eric, I don't think I can this weekend, though. I popped up one of Ron's pics under the route info at Left Flank. Ron, if you want the pics you took, I can send em to ya. PS, I tried changing my user name, but it won't let me. -Kid Cheeto

Yes, its me, I didn't get any pics of you. My buddy had a rough time figuring out how to open the lens cover or some other technical problem....sorry Ron. The pic is approved and up. I may have to look into the name change thing. Still have orange toes, BTW.

Hey kid Cheeto... Andy Lemon says it will cost you a $20 donation to change your name. I think they made that the standard fee. But what is cool is that you get these neat hands underneath your username because you'll be a "partner". Went to Draper's yesterday... The first pitch of The Outline is classic, you guys have to do that if you haven't. Where is traddaddy? later, Andy
