Well it's up to us to stoke this thing back up!! ;-) I remember a time when dozens of people were posting on this thread all day every day. Ahh the good 'ol days. Do the remaining massclimbers still organize winter climbs at quincy quarries?

Hey long time since I have been on rc.com. lots of new faces. Still out climbing , but looking to get out more and rarely have the time to get onto rc. So I started a facebook community coop page and want to share with fellow climbers. The goal is to make meeting up and climbing with others more accessible through social networks. im not a huge fan of social netowrks but feel like they are a necessary evil now-a-days. If you are on FB or twitter you are welcome to join us! we would love to engage with more like-minded people. www.facebook.com/massascent https://twitter.com/MassAscent (still haven't tweeted anything, but we plan on using it) Happy climbing and if anyone wants a climbing partner in the shirley, ma area I am game!!! Jeff

I'm still out doing the real thing as often as I can, though more hiking than climbing these days. I do miss the active massclimbers community. Once in a blue moon i lurk around the site, but I haven't actually logged in and posted in ages. The whole social media revolution kinda turned me off from the interdnet. Some of the old crew have my digits. Give a shout out if you need a partner.

I miss New England dearly! I'll be in Boston around the middle of December, if you want to grab a pint let me know. Are you at the same #?

Holy smokes! JJ and the Pi! Winter is here. Not so much outdoor climbing, but tons of skiing right out of the backyard!

*Bump*... No climbing in years for me, not on rock anyway. I'm the director for our COPE program at my son's scout camp so I'm only climbing telephone poles and cables these days. I want to get back on rock but I'll be starting way back at square one for sure. ( Which is especially sad because I never made it past square 3 ) Speaking of FUG Edit: Pirate,?, ? , ?, ?, JJeff, jake, Paulthe Nurse, Robbovius, ?, ?, ?

Heyyy! man it's been months since I've checked this thread ;-) a year since I posted last? anyway, that might be Jen next to me in the blue jacket, maybe? what year is that pic? Wide I"m up fro some recovery climbing after I'm thru the 12 weeks recovery for my latest climbing related surgical repair. for those not on FB I tore my right bicep tendon in a spectacular lead fall at CRG in worcester back in february. had the repair surgery on 3/15. who wants to see surgery pr0n?!?!? It's only a little gory ;-) I was climbing well too, got my lead head solid, was ONLY leading, getting up .8s confidently, working .9s...then OOOPS! not nearly the splat I took in 8/09, but a bit of a re-set. wide lets talk, QQ in june after the surgeon gives me the PT go-ahead... ;-) Haven't been climbing nearly as much - about 1x a week at CRG in worcester - as the heyday of the MASSCLIMBERS, mostly because I've spent the last 2.5 years building this... though that picture is from march 2012, the last time it was on its wheels. these days it looks more like this (tho this pic is sometime last summer): it'll be on the road this summer.

Holy crap! Thanks for posting that picture Rob!! Memories... That's my ex Heather in the pink jacket next to me. I believe that day was her first time on rope ever. I miss this community...it was a great group of people. Sounds like everyone is doing well and I'm so glad. My heart goes out to those of you still in Boston...what happened this past week just tore me up and being so far away made it even worse. I'm glad it's finally over though. Take care y'all!! Maybe someday we can get a reunion happening!!

Finally climbed real rock this weekend. Was up in Maine, whitewater rafting with my son and yesterday the guides took us climbing. Was a little crag I don't see on the route DB, about 60' high, maybe 100' long. The guides had no idea on grades but the one they called "Gooey" I am guessing was a .2-.3 and "Room of doom" was maybe a .4-.5. It's only accessible by boat across a short stretch of Moxie Pond, place called "Joe's Hole." Not worth the 5 hour drive itself but definitely a nice way to kill a few hours if you're in the area. Plus, I got climbing again, which was nice

Yo guys, drinking beer actually hurts your climbing because it causes the bones to become brittle and weaker, and slows bone strengthening of the hands which typically occurs in climbing. With that said if you guys aren't taking it that seriously its no big deal. For me though, I do a high protein and high calcium diet, have minimal bodyfat, and have gone from doing 5.6 routes to 5.11c routes in less than a year.

It's truly a rad ride. Ground clearance might be an issue places like CR though
