I've actually been and gone. This is the recap of my 10 days out there. Too bad I didn't know in advance, though.

There's a slight possibility that Sungam is still there. He was at the Williams campground on Potash Rd when I left.

I missed you last week then. I don't read any of the blogs though and I pretty much climbed away from the groups so I had no idea.

I might leave for Moab this afternoon, if I do, I'll stop by the Williams campground on my way out.

As always... a great read GMB! Hope the ankle is well on the mend. I've torn ligaments in both my ankle/feet (at different times from completely un-climbing-related reasons) and know how horrible it is not being able to jam them when you want to.

My next update won't be a for a couple of days. Jello sent me some stuff today work in, and I've got to do that before posting. I'm predicting Thursday or Friday as the next day for my stuff.

One part of the post I forgot to mention is how I met Sungam. I was aiding Skeletonic when I saw this guy walking around in his boxers. He was sopping wet because he thought it would be easier to swim with the Colorado River-current than to walk back to his campsite.

Seriously, he was just walking up to people while in his boxers and starting up conversations. He never even noticed the wild looks and stares.

And I've never met a guy who waves at everyone more than him. He was a treat to meet.

You are a weirdo douchebag. Not really I was just getting frustrated from having failed so horribly and was unnecessarily pinning my frustrations on other people because of the little things they were doing that I wouldn't have noticed if we would have gotten up and down without incident. Just goes to show you, everyone can be friendly when the climbing is fun and "safe" but when things get hard and aren't going well then you see what people are really like. Both of you guys did well putting up with me. I can be a bit of an asshole. Thanks.

The final "push" is now up for reading. This chronicles our final day in Moab and the interesting bookend to my vacation (hint: think about the first few posts of the series).

There will probably be an epilogue from Jello. He returned the following weekend without me and had an interesting time with his friend "Utah," whom he and I had climbed with briefly in the 'Daks a few summers earlier.

Couple thoughts on push starting w/ a dead battery.
I've done it in reverse gear too. So if you're forward in an uphill parking spot that will work.

Well, considering its his car and he basically pulled us up River Tower, I think he gets a pass. He 3/4 pushed on our drive back. I was driving and I helped him to start the car. I then jumped in the car and popped the clutch.

Step 1
Make sure that the problem is either the battery or the starter: If the engine cranks ("rrr-rrr-rrr") when you turn the key, then the problem isn't the starter or the battery.

Step 2
Plan to have at least one person sitting in the driver's seat and one person pushing. Mid-size and large cars require two or three people to push, depending on the strength of the people and whether or not the car is parked on an incline.

Step 3
Turn off all accessories (radio, wipers, lamps).

Turn the key to the "on" position.

Depress the clutch pedal with your foot.

Put the transmission in first or second gear.

Release the hand brake and the foot brake.

That works if you're by yourself. Although being on a slight down hill helps so you don't slow down to much as you jump in the car...

just make sure you don't trip, face plant into the open door, belly flop onto the ground and watch the car roll faster and faster away from you.

About the whiteness on the rope business . . . any of you climbing with some loose chalk?

No, not that I know of. I'm pretty sure Jello uses a chalk ball. Just not sure why it would be that way in that one, specific spot. I really think it was the rock doing it.
