Hey everybody! I'm stoked to be a part of the RockClimbing.com community and am looking forward to everyone's posts.
I participated in a bouldering competition at my local gym in San Diego about two weeks ago and met the owner of a company called YAMA Bags. I was blown away by her handmade, unique, and colorful chalk bags and decided to interview her on my blog. Thought you guys might want to take a look.

Sean, are you saying THIS chalkbag (and the music they MAKE you listen too on that site) is less gay?
I mean, I don't have the sense of style you obviously do on what is gay or not I suppose.....it just seems.....well....here: maybe Wikipedia can explain it better.

The only fucking thing you need in a chalkbag is an extra, small zippered pocket to store a knife and some rap rings. No-body makes chalk bags with little pockets anymore, because they're all so self obsessed with style.
A churchkey would also do well.

I've got a Verve chalkbag with a zippered pouch. I've never once put anything in it. I guess I could. It's just not a concern for me on the stuff I like to climb, like you know, 3000ft trad routes in the middle of nowhere.

What kind of a climber doesn't stuff at least an itty bitty headlamp in there? Headlamp, mini-knife and a gu packet.

What kind of climber is so convinced he'll epic that he even prepares his chalkbag for it?
If you think there are some essentials that you must take on every climb, well, you probably climb slow and at a low level.
