I'd go with Potter, that man has a gift for saving his own ass in certain death situations. You guys read his article in Alpinist? Base jumping into a 1200ft sink hole, and escaping death by some obsurd miracle. Anyone who has ever gotten bad rope burn on their hands will really be amazed. The article is written by him and is a must read. Potter is also a hometown boy, went to high school with his cousins, and he gave me some secret bouldering places last time I met him.

There was this one time I wore an assjacket.... I think Sharma, but I'd rather meet him than be him. Personally, Sharma's been an icon for me since i've started, and spending a day on the rocks with him would definately be awesome, though i couldn't do half the stuff he can.

This is a stupid topic, but I'm bored too. Potter is too damn big,...so that leaves Sharma. You have to think of all the factors. And yes, I would feel to uncomfortable being that big.

In reply to: Definetly sharma. He is awesome. His ways of life are just amazing. I praise him every night....... Stephen First of all, stephen you are an idiot. Ha. Secondly, I want a reason to use this icon because it's my favorite: (in reference to this topic, although I do enjoy reading about climbers in general, I don't spend hours debating the merits of existing as one or another different person) :boring:

In reply to: y'all sound like a couple eight year old kids arguing over whether it would be cooler to be batman or superman. like whoa, batman's dark and moody and s---, but superman can actually fly! wheeee!!!!!! First, you have to consider that the Dark Knight has a really damaged psyche. He can have no rest from his demons, both internal and external. The amazing thing about the Batman is how far his pushes himself beyond normal human bounds. He's exceptional, but he's a soul that can never really be at peace. The fact that he is a human consumed by suffering makes him a much more relatable character than Superman. Then there's Kal-El, one of the last survivors of a destroyed world. His powers are legendary, but he's always seemed too strong. Both the laser eyes and freezing breath? Flight, strength, virtual invulnerability? X-ray vision? No wonder his enemies have to be out of this world. He's such the good guy that it's annoying. And yet there has to be this underlying sense of isolation defending a world he's not a part of. In short, neither. (Sorry, old comics geek.)

first off: this thread is lame. second off: yall are missing something big; the real deal is alpinism, and in that the real deal is patagonia, and Dean tore that place a new arschhole. i don't care much for sharma, thats not real climbing to me, and tommy kicks some big wall arse, but speed soloing the nastiest alpine peaks on the planet as well as big walling and crack climbing like a motherfugger means potters da man.
