Wish the timing was right, but I'll be there with a few friends from the 2nd to the 8th. PM me if you'll be up there before hand. Always love meeting new people. Connect a little east coast Rumney gathering with the J-Tree side of life. TD

Which campground is being used as the "basecamp" for this shin-dig? I'm starting a new job this coming Monday, so I don't know if I can swing a weekend off that soon, but maybe. If I do, I'll expect that Curt will bring a bottle of Irish Whisky to replace mine that he drank all of last Sept. at the Flagstaff gathering... Right, Curt? ;)

In reply to: About this Sat . night diner thing, i will of coarse do whatever the group decides to do but let me remind you that i'm a granite starved mid-westerner (i hope im not the only one) who has just been through a long long winter, this means sitting down to eat anywhere other than at the base of the rock waiting to climb will leave me a bit distracted. maybe doing it after sunset will help. It sounds to me like you are going for all the wrong reasons. :)

There is going to be a climber's movie night Sat. night the 16th at the JT Oasis ..... a screening of Vertical Frontier and also Wall Rats,... it's a benefit for the Friends of Joshua Tree, so you all should try to make it. Popcorn and sodas, a nice gear raffle (shoes, packs, tent, ....) as well as FOJT swag. More info can be gotten on the FOJT website, if you are interested. Ropefriend

Black Rock Campground is where we have 6 sites reserved...but likely that rc.comers will be scattered everywhere. Some mentioned hotel rooms, some BLM lakebed, some lucky bastard will probably get a spot in HV... Attendees update: - addiroids - all_that_is_rock - areuinclimber(tentative) - baja_java - bandycoot(tentative) - cardio - climbsomething - curt - duskerhu - elvislegs & brother(tentative) - eyecannon - fire_eyes - fo_d - hangerlessbolt - happiegrrrl & mystery guest(a slightly misanthropic social butterfly) - g - gamehendge - johnhenry - j_ung(tentative) - maculated(tentative) - marshall84 - monkmiller510 - neuroshock - nikegirl - pheenixx - phugganut - piton - r6driver - rendog - rrradam(tentative) - scallywag(tentative) - sd_damien - skibabeage(tentative) - snoopy138 - tim - toobigtoclimb - tradster Gatherings are different for everyone. I'm much more a 'eat at the campsite girl' (tho I've not quite reached true 'dirtbag' status!) I will make homemade lasagne or some other such delicious dish for campsite eating Saturday, and you'll find me there. There will clearly also be a group going to Edchadas (I forgot to stop there this weekend...sorry!) And possibly a group going to the movie for Friends of Josh. See you all soon!

hey all, i'm going to try to be there. hardly anybody here knows me, but i do hold the distinction of the only person to have climbed with both coldclimb and dr_kodos (!) and they both seem to still like me alright, so i guess i can get along with anybody. i'd be glad to chip in if there's still bivy space available in black rock, otherwise i'll be looking for free camping. see ya there -Matt

On another subject, is anyone planning or interested in some night climbing or bouldering? I'm not much of a boulderer (just ask Curt) but it's climbing :D

In reply to: Are we going to have name tags? :D "HELLO my name is Eyecannon / David" Ok. The cat's out of the bag. I was planning on making name tags for every attendee, as well as an equally stupid iron-on for a t-shirt with your user name that you can have as a memento. I was going to include the rc.com logo, but alas, they said no way. So, I'll be bringing an iron! :D And fo_d, YES! Night climbing for me. Bouldering, well, not if I can rope gun some 6s...hehehe!!! faust and jdcdank1: lemme know if you're coming (assuming you wanna get yer cool name tag and iron-on!) See ya!!

I already get enough of "are you maculated" comments as it is (somthing you know well). Some of us are not so proud of our internet geekdom. Though, I definitely think you should force Tim to do it. Heh. That said, I have Thurs-Mon off that weekend so it's likely I'm going. I've never seen J Tree in the Spring. It's Bishop season for me!

Since I'm local, I have the luxury of remaining non-commital until I see the weather forecast; but, in all likelihood, I'll be out on Friday night and Saturday, and then climb at New Jack City on Sunday. NJC is only about an hour's drive from Josh, so if anyone is interested in making a side trip to bolt-heaven, let me know. -Jay

Hi folks, I'm new to the site and to climbing in general (climbing only two months- climb 5-10c/d and boulder V2/V3 indoors but have not climbed outside yet). Will there be people at J-Tree willing to help me learn outside climbing? I'm 22 and living in San Fran, also an enthusiastic provider of beer and transportation from bay area to Joshua. Jeff
