"Daisuke" (my roommate) and I will be going next week. Probably show up Thurs night or Friday morning. Will stay until Monday. We'll figure out our campsite stuff, but I'd rather not stay with "the party." I'll be sure to drop by the festivities.

AmWest ~ $99 OW OrangeCty/ SoCal. specials = "fare by city" Good luck. http://www.americawest.com/.../faresalesbycity.asp does j-tree have a "public" airport..? thanks! from chicago looks affordable again, but requires a 14-day advance (too late). i'll keep this in mind for my other trips that are a little more distant in time. besides, i just dropped another $800+ on my car today for repairs to damage incurred while driving to the Red River Gorge last weekend.

In reply to: pheenix: Little Black Toytota Rav 4L w/CA plates and climbing type stickers on the back window. Ummmm, fire_eyes.....good thing you also mentioned it's a black Rav4L w/ Cali plates.... Every damned car in Joshua Tree has climbing type stickers on them! We are arriving Wednesday evening, and I'll post up the campsite we are at when we go into town for supplies. However, I don't think we are planning to go back to town each night, and I am sure there are more than a few who won't have access to rc.com between Thursday and their arrival. Yes, i know we can stop in at beatnik and go online..... Anyway - also consider the possibility of extenuating circumstances making communication through this thread infeasible. (think....server problems such as took the thing down a few months ago.....) No doubt you might be driving through Hidden Valley to find some climbing.....why not post the information on the community bulletin board there, too? Plus - were you able to check in Black Rock campground has a bulletin board? I am SO looking forward to this trip!!!!! Ah - One other question - My friend is wanting to decide which ropes to bring. We're bringing at least one 60m rope, but he wants to know about doubles. Anyone who knows the place - worth bringing them (travelling on plane).

Hey Terrie: Leave the doubles at home...though there are plenty of wandering routes at Josh for which they may be good, the rock is sharp, and they'll take a beating. I will post at Hidden Valley bulletin board, Nomad Ventures and at Black Rock. Plus post up here. I'll make it reeeeeaaaaal easy to find us! See you all soon!

When I last posted I didn't realize that an engagement party I'm going to is this Saturday. I'll probably drive up after the party and go to dinner with the group and schmooze at the campsites. Is Saturday night dinner at Edchadas still on? Sunday, plans are for me, Hillary and her boyfriend, Alex, to head over to New Jack City, so if anyone is interested in making a side trip to check out some fun sport climbing about an hour's drive away, let me know. -Jay

Jay, you might be able to corral me into checking it out - we'll see after this week. My arms don't like face climbing much right now. Heh. My car is easy to distinguish. I'm the only person in the world that has both ASCA and ASCA stickers on her car.

In reply to: Thanks, Jay! That's great news, 'cause getting up a couple of climbs today with the wind gusting as it was became really interesting! Skabs. I know. I once led a route there called Dog Day Afternoon in 50 mph winds. It is was horrifying. -Jay

I once led a route there called Dog Day Afternoon in a 50 mph crosswind. I had to time the moves between gusts. It is was horrifying. -Jay

Count me in. Can't wait to see Hanger and T again--it's been over a year. I may have one noob and one semi-noob joining me. Coming in Sat a.m., spending sat nite, leave sun evening. We would love to stay at Black Rock if there is room (just tried to book my own site but sold out), but I also booked a room at Super 8 as a backup. We'd also like to join for dinner on Sat at Edchada's. If kegs of beer are a possibility Sat nite I'm willing to do whatever is necessary to make it happen! Bob
