Just a few days ago the fleshy part just below my thumb, on the palm got extremely sensitive to pressure. Every time i did somthing that required meticulouse (sp) handwork like small models etc. it would start to ache. I've had this problem before in the same place on both thumbs but this one has lasted for close to a week now. I'm wondering if this is a minor ligament injury?

Well its not easy to say what it is but it can't be a major injury. Think back and view what happened just before you got the pain in your thumb. The muscle you injured is probably the Flexor Pollicis Brevis. Otherwise you may of injured a tendin/ligament but highly unlikely, because of the pain area. To what I think you probably strained the Flexor Pollicis Brevis, through pinching a hand hold, (whatever). RICE: Rest - Ice - Compress - Elevate The RICE treatment is only used for soft tissue injuries and in your case try the treatment. Hope this helps.

yeah i had a thumb problem almost exactly like you described... i couldn't grip things or wieght train.. best thing to do is let it rest... took about 2 weeks of rest to get over it.. but it came back every so often.. probably a pulled ligament...take it easy on it for a while.
