In reply to: In reply to: At the gym, this reggae version of John Denvers' "Country Roads" was playing. Now THAT was strange. LMAO! That's by Toots and the Maytals, a ska band from the '60s and '70s. They wrote the song, then John Denver just covered it and changed some of the lyrics from "West Jamaica" to "West Virginia" the more you know... Slightly Stoopid redid John Denver's version in reggae so it coulda been them too and they also did leaving on a jet plane... thats one of my favorites by them!

In reply to: Actually you are incorrect, although the Maytals version is far better the song was written by John Denver in 1971. Thanks for the info, I stand corrected! I had my dates a little off...Toots first covered it in '72. I thought Denver didn't do that one until the late '70s, so I guess I made an assumption about which came first. This thread is officially jacked. :D

I listen to music bouldering when ever i can it really pumps me up. Some songs do more than others though. I have found that Regga and rap/hiphop are the best songs for making that hard send. :D

Anything I can pull hard to. Something that gets me pumped up and excited. These guys in my gym think that Weezer's "Hash Pipe" makes you pull harder, but after hearing it played repeatedly 8 times, I got a little sick of it.

There is usually music playing when I'm in the gym, but the kind of music that gets me pumped is stuff like: It dies today, senses fail, hawethorne hieghts, etc....

I dig stuff like plastikman, crystal method, or any type of jungle / dnb. I tend to not like getting too rev'd up when climbing.. puts me in an agressive mindset and makes it hard for me to evaluate options.. but i do enjoy blood has been shed, red chord, acacia strain, unearth, etc.. ::ferret::

Lately I've been listening to Anberlin But if I could pick, I'd listen to some good old Ned's Atomic DustBin or maybe Eve 6. The group my younger brother hangs with would probably say Tool wich sits well with me too.
