Music and climbing go hand in hand... as do most things with music. I love listening to up beat Ben Harper, i.e. Glory and Consequence, or Faded. Also Moe, String Cheese Incident, and anything with a good jazzy hip-hop beat... Soulive for example. Good Bluegrass too. There are soo many! Boulder Problem? MUSIC IS THE ANSWER! :D

Common Market, Blue Scholars, A tribe called quest, lightheaded, four tet, two gallants, people under the stairs, Jurassic 5, some rage against the machine, RJD2, sage francis, heiruspecs...those are some of the mellow, beat oriented things I listen plus a little to just get me going.

How are y'all doing? Well for a first post what easier than this subject? I normally tend to listen to Misfits or Against All Authority which is some pretty fast skapunk from Miami, FL. Also Los Hermanos from brazil has a good rithm and tends to be calm so it helps me concentrate on the problems that make me feel like an old lady in a wheelchair staring up the stairs. :? _______________ "Doh" Gunther's wise words

Just got an ipod nano and love using it while climbing indoors. . . My fav's are the ol' "shuffle" feature - anything from Paul Simon to Bonnie Raitt to MIA and Belly. how about listening to the music of a fellow climber? Check out my tunes (i'm an alt-country/folk-rock indie artist. . .) - - insert shameless plug here - - http://www.tanyapluth.com - - - end shameless plug - - - Oh, there ARE climbing photos on the site too! Here - http://www.tanyapluth.com/photos-group-17.html so much for anonymity. . . t.

If you make it, they will buy it. Sell with a 40 pack of ramen and a can of krylon. I think you are on to something.

maybe i'm way off here, but i like to get outside by myself and work on a problem with just the music of nature around me. beats are all good in the gym, but isn't nature half the point of climbing?

In reply to: maybe i'm way off here, but i like to get outside by myself and work on a problem with just the music of nature around me. beats are all good in the gym, but isn't nature half the point of climbing? Thank you! Last thanksgiving I was in Bishop sitting in front of the iron man traverse. Up walks this kid with neo-Bon Jovi hair cut, big shield sunglasses, and runway cargos with an i-pod attached to his hips with wires running straight into his brain. He promptly walks in front of people waiting to give it a go and hikes the problem (totally floated it) and then walked off to wage war with something more difficult. Don't get me wrong, he was an impressive climber, but there was so much attitude it reeked. On top of that, the i-pod just served to cut the guy off from the environment - both social and natural. Obviously I disagree with that mostly because those are the things I love about bouldering. So, when I see this thread degenerate into a list of who's who among unknown bands it makes me a bit cynical. But I really do love leomoon (and organica - Mike Call sure did a good job on the High Life).
