I'm moving from Toronto Canada to Irvine OC in a couple of weeks. I'm wondering where the best indoor climbing locations are?

Rockreation in Costa Mesa is the best of a couple gyms in the general area. Lots of stuff for the outdoors, but alas Williamson Rock (best local sport climbing) is closed at least until next season.

I'm going to try and get a friend down there into it. But if its not their thing... hopefully I'll be able to find a partner.

Climbing in the So Cal area in general is very popular as evident of the billions of people I run into at areas like Joshua Tree, Tahquitz, the local sport climbing crags, and the local gyms. I'll second the Rockreation in Costa Mesa as the best gym in the area. I climb at the West LA Rockreation and have been down to the Costa Mesa one a few times and its a nice gym, you'll find tons of people there to partner up with. Jason

Believe it or not OC is closer to JT and Tahquitz than LA. Lucky me because I moved here 2 years ago from LA. Costa Mesa is the best gym, I went to a gym 6 blocks from my house in Lake Forest that shal remain nameless and it was full of kids, short walls and made for birthday parties, so my wife and I drive 20 minutes to get to Costa Mesa. When are you moving here? -m

I'm so glad we have fellow Rockreation lovers here! Our gym rules and is full of REAL climbers. As for Irvine...I'm sorry, I truly am. Let me be the first to welcome you to fascist Orange County...hope you like republicans! :?
