I know there are different styles of climbing... but overall, who deserves to be called a living legend in the climbing world beside you?

Men currently climbing: Dean Potter Tommy Caldwell Hubers Steve House (oh oh Croft and Bachar are still climbing and are ledgends, and so is Beckey and.......pick only 3? ) Women: Lynn Hill the other 2 I think you can get by reading a climbing mag and picking, theres at least like 4 real real good women climbers on top.

Alex Huber is one of those damned krauts, so he doesn't count. My list for the top three climbers in the USA would be 1. the one having the most fun 2. the other one having the most fun 3. Tori Allen

Sure thing, Potter and Sharma aren't even listed. Far as that goes, whats to stop you from jumping on this site and claiming enough sends to assure you of a top 3 rating? top 3 NA Climbers today: David Graham 1981 United States Maine Curtis Greene- 1982 United States Nephi, UT Andy Raether 1984 United States Minneapoli

I believe those are just competitive rankings.

Everyone else has the top 3 covered, but here's my nomination for legends of modern climbing. 1. John Gill (THE ultimate pioneer) 2. Peter Croft (daring first ascents and free soloing) 3. Lynn Hill (best ever female climber) 4. Ron Kauk (the Yosemite legend) 5. Danny Osmond (total guts and amazing mind over matter) Pioneers of the pioneers Royal Robins and Chounard deserve mention for pioneering climbing gear, first ascensions and beginning climbing techniques. In reply to: Peter Croft is Canadian. Oh I forgot. If you were born in another country you can't be an American. Good point. I thought he was a US citizen, but perhaps I'm wrong. Sorry if I was. GT

No climber mentioned has ever onsight soloed multiple stacked pitches of 5.12 crack. Mike Reardon went steps beyond previous soloing achievements with his onsight solo of Romantic Warrior. I don't see anyone stepping up to match or better his climb anytime soon. For whatever reason, the climbing community does not seem to recognize (or denies) the significance of this achievement.

In reply to: Peter Croft is Canadian. Dunno where he is now, but he was living and working in the USA when I met him. How come Kansasclimber isn't on the list yet?
