It's in Elk County, PA. Probably about 3 1/2 hours from Carlisle.

Hey all, I'm studying at Millersville University for the next 3 years atleast and heard there's a climbing gym in Lancaster. Can anyone confirm this and maybe hook me up with some info. Also, I'm willing to make the trek to climbnasium if someone wants to give me a ride on occasion.

In terms of climbing outside, I'm nice and close to Chickies, and quite familiar with a few areas in the South Mountain / Micheaux SF area, and am dying for partners. If you're local, look me up, if you're gonna be in the area and need a partner or a local, I'm here and I'll host a few dirtbag climbers if you don't mind sleeping on my concrete dormroom floor. Oh yeah did I mention great parties most nights of the week?

Peace.
Colby.

Hi All,

I am trying to gain access to a local climbing area in Tyrone, PA called the Bluffs. I have never done this before and I am kinda trying to figure it all out by myself. So if anyone can offer any advice on the process, please do. I am currently looking for tax maps of the area to find out who the owner is. After that, I will probably try to follow the Access Fund's guide: http://accessfund.org/pdf/res_private.pdf If anyone else in tyrone or the surrounding area is interested in helping, let me know. I could definitely use some help! Thanks!!

Hello PA climbers. for those in State College, or Penn State Main Campus, I have added the Hammond Wall: http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=10413

Please feel free to add and update anything there as I do not know if any one has exact routes, but I have seen arrows and numbers in chalk on the rocks. Enjoy!

Looking for partner in South East PA. I will lead up to a 5.8 but mostly stick to the 5.6 5.7 range. I have a full rack and two ropes, but I mostly end up just sport climbing at my local crag. PM me or email at Italijd@jmusa.co if you want to climb some time.

Anyone know who is climbing at a little rocky outcrop along 322 hwy in Central PA? It's just off the highway as you head up over the mountains before the big resevoir between Milroy and State College.

I went there to practice some gear placements because it's right next to my folks' house and was surprised to find some holds all chalked up. If there's climbers around, I'd like to meet them when I go back to Mifflin county.

I'm in the Wilkes Barre area this weekend. I've climbed at Mocanaqua and Tillbury years ago. Is there any other areas w/ some height? Are there areas in/near the Lackawana S.F? If anyone's in the Northcentral PA area this fall/winter and looking for a partner, lemme know. I'm hoping for a better ice harvest this year.

The ice harvest I speak of would be anywhere in PA. Last year it was pretty weak. There are a number of good formations near me that needed a little more freeze time. Pine Creek Gorge has some beautiful falls. Keep your eyes out for an ice guide from Griz http://grizguides.com/iceguide.php

When I try to go to paclimbers.org I'm getting redirected to http://platypus.sitestrux.com/suspended.page/
which is blank. [Edit] Also, the so-called "new topics" list on this site is giving me "new" topics from 2004 for some reason. So, is PAC kaput? Anyone?

They lost the lease at Governers Stable this year, and it looks like they gave up on any other initiatives that they were working on.

From what I heard about GS is that the land is changing owners (from the parents to the kids) and it *should* open up again. However, if the PAC is gone I don't know what is going to happen.

I hope it opens again. I really enjoyed bouldering there and had no problem making the drive from Pittsburgh a couple times a year.

Hey everyone, I'm new to RC.com. i'm from PA and looking for a climbing partner for the Gunks this weekend. I can lead up to 5.6 and follow up to 5.9. I have my own gear also. Would prefer to follow someone due to my inexperience at the Gunks, but would be fine leading too. if anyone is free and interested this coming weekend( june 9-10) drop me a line and we can chat. thanks.

Birdsboro Access [In reply to]

All,

When you climb at Birdsboro, please make certain that you and your fellow climbers are respecting the Haines and Kibblehouse No Trespassing signs. Please do not use the railroad tracks as an alternative to crossing the creek. Ted Coffelt and fellow climbsers installed cables across both crossings, please use them or enter the climbing area from the south.

If climbers continue to trespass they will jeopardize our access to one of the few sport climbing areas in SE PA.

Thanks!

All,

I thought some of you may find this useful. I combined the locations of many of the climbs within 2hrs of Philly onto one map...thanks to the GPS coordinates on this site.

Sorry, I don't do much bouldering so I've left many of those locations out.

enjoy

Nice map ...

Anyone have detailed directions for getting to the cliffs at Mocanaqua? I'm typically very good with maps, directions, and exploring, but I've managed to not find my way around this place twice.

Specifically, I'm talking about getting from the trailhead to the library, rambo, and paradise. Post up. Help others.
