Hi all, The hamster hiccupped last night and we went offline for a little. Luckily, we brought the new back-up online Friday, so it was there waiting, BUT it wasn't as smooth a transition as I might have liked. We're doing more today to make sure the back-up can handle what it needs to and to get the main machine running like it should. In the meantime, you might hit a slow page load or two, especially as the west-coast people wake up and start getting online. Jay

I do not know what to do with hiccups, but maybe you take better care of your hamster? here is something to get you started. ;) qwert Just when i tried to post this, the hamster told me about a "zero sized object". stuff like this has to be served with a "thats what she said". can you please teach this to the hamster?

Ooookaaay... we're back. The Gossamer boys just put 12 more gigs of ram into the back up, which is why were down for the last 15 minutes. Word is now they're going to work on the main. It's hard to describe how un-thrilled I am, but they're working their asses off right now to stabilize the patient. Bear with us. There will undoubtedly be more hiccups today.

I like the "Under Construction" ... "Future site of rockclimbing.com" page. I should have copied and saved it so I could post it here.

He wants to post about hitting IC and how he has no tent and /or enough rack.

Cool, he just left to go buy some food for tomorrow, but I can personally vouch for him not being a spidermonkey, though he is (to be perfectly honest) a badass climber.

Well, did a bit of digging since I recall something about a buddy of yours getting the banz and it seems he was a driveby victim of the spidermonkey fiasco due to his "poast" thread. Seems it wasn't clear he wasn't a new account of the monkey's so got the banz. Dropping the Blue a PM will probably clear it up. Are you trying to get me and Bec banzd now? As far as I know we have been "the monkeys" for the last forever. j_ung PMed!!!!!

Okay, I have the official word. Here's what happened: 1. The primary drive of the dropzone database server crashed and was not recoverable. It was an older server. 2. We fell over to our new back up. 3. The back-up could not handle the traffic well, and performance was poor during peak traffic times. 4. Yesterday, our developers upgraded the back up from 4 GB of ram, to 16 GB of ram, and performance improved. It has handled traffic for the last 24 hours or so without issue. 5. We upgraded the main hardware and RAM to give us protection from drive failures and additional performance improvements. As of now, we're still on the back-up, which is working fine. Obviously, though, we need to switch back over to the main server. When that happens, there's going to be another outage for probably 20 minutes. This'll be around 4:30 PM Pacific time, Thursday. Thanks all. I hate, hate, HATE the inconvenience all this caused.
