Hey guys, My girlfriend, another friend and I are planning on heading to the Pyrenees for a little under a week at the end of June. I have come across some information on this website: http://www.climb-europe.com/spain/RockClimbingPyrenees.htm and plan on purchasing their guidebook: http://www.climb-europe.com/RockClimbingShop/Pyrenees-Rock-Climbing-Guidebook.html but until that comes in, I have a few questions to help make our plans! We will be flying from Mallorca, and we are trying to figure out which of three airports in Barlcelona to fly into. Our problem is that we are not sure which of the areas on the map are the best for moderate (4+ - 6a+) single-pitch sport climbs. According to the map above, there seems to be two clusters to choose from where we can spend our time: ---#1 & 2: Sadernes & Montgrony OR ---#9-12: San Llorenc de Montgal, Tartareu, Santa Linya, Camarasa We plan on being in the area for five days, climbing for three of these, and any advice that you can offer would be great. If we know where we are heading, we can begin to look for the plane ticket and for a place to stay. Any other advice is more than welcome! Thanks again, Michael

You could try contacting some fiends of mine who run a B&B and guiding company based out of Bagneres-de-Luchon in the Pyrenees. He's off on Kilimanjaro right now but she should be able to hook you up with some info.

Hi, Probably far too late but climb-europe has very limited info, there is way way more in the Pyrenees than is on the site. We have accommodation in the Ariege region (about 3 hrs from Barcelona on the French side), which has over 50 crags including several that would suit your needs, one of which is around the corner from us. There is probably suitable stuff closer to Barcelona but I am not very well informed on climbing on the Spanish side. There is some info on our website below and if you have any questions feel free to ask. Jon http://www.basecalames.com/

I was in the Pyrenees area last June; Mallorca also. I wrote an article about it on this site: http://www.rockclimbing.com/...iva_Espa_a_1043.html I stopped by Montgrony on a rest day and it is more for the harder crowd; not many moderates there. Consider Piedra Forca, a huge pair of limestone pinnacles. Great looking rock. If you want more info, pm me.
