I'm interested in the edelrid eddy, but I've never had a chance to handle / use one.
Kinda like to see it in use, there's surprising little out there on it that I can find. Dug up one video on youtube from an arborist using it, that wasn't very helpful, about all I can find.
I kinda thought they might have a video like petzl's done with the gri gri.
Anyway if anyone has any links to any videos showing it in use please share.

Whats a video gonna do for ya?
I can describe it. Imagine an expensive Grigri, bit heavier, except when you pull the handle back on the "Grigri" to lower someone, imagine that if you pull it too far, instead of dropping the climber even faster it just locks up tight. To unlock it and get the climber going again, you push the handle back the other way. If you push too far, wham, locked again. Eventually you find a sweet spot in the middle, but if you move the handle either way it locks up.
Good stuff. Real good. You can still kill someone by dropping them. But it's more labor intensive and expensive. If you do a search you will see that HealyJ loves his more than the modified Grigri for solo climbing. I have tried the Soloist, a Silent Partner, the Gri gri, used a Cinch and Jumar for soling, and the Eddy works better. Although roped soloing still sucks.

OK, no joke, I like it enough that I just went and bought myself a brand new one so that I could give my beat to crap one to my boy. Less than a week ago. I have not used my new one yet. I do have 2 grigris too:-)
