What I don't get is the massive overuse of chalk in indoor gyms. Its very unusual for me to ever have to use chalk in a gym. Watching a climber stop to repeatedly dip his/her palms into a chalk bag just makes me think its bad habit. Those people who do it every time they need to rest their pumped arms. I say, shake them out man, don't go for the chalk bag every time because it gets to look like you have a nervous twitch.

anything worth saying once is worth saying twice:

Long term studies of chalk hasn't been done, and you won't know until it's too late, so why not go easy on the stuff now? That's my approach. Then and now.

The research is actually quite alarming. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...lk%20cancer;#2216980

It can't be good for your lungs, but however bad it is for your lungs it's even worse for your head.
