my hand slipped off a sloper and I smacked a lip about a foot below with my elbow, some guy heard it from 20 ft. away, it was fine after a 10 minute break but now that i'm home I can barely move it, what did I do and how can I fix it? [ This Message was edited by: sparky on 2003-01-14 19:39 ]

Possible nerve damage. I would go see a doctor just in case.

Damn, that sounds painful. Hope you didn't continue climbing after taking that knock. Best you can do is like the others say, have a doc look at it and soon. Don't leave it be.

good call on the amputation, i'll lop it off tonight, who needs arms anyway?!? My mom is a nurse and was in San Fran at the time I hit it but now that she's back she told me the same things you guys did (it a tendon or something like that) small price to pay, i didn't go yesterday and probably won't today, but tommorow i'm finishing the damn problem that did this to me!!!

hey sparky...careful with that elbow. i did the same thing - smacked my elbow on a rock (playing paintball), and never went to a doctor about it because i thought it was just bruised. i woke up one morning about a month later, and couldn't move my arm. went to the doctor, and it turns out it was broken. had to go through months of physical therapy....no climbing and no fun. just fyi....

I realize this is going to sound revolutionary, crazy even, but why don't you find a new project that you can work on that doesn't injure you if you fall off. If the problem is at a gym it appears like a lousy setting job. Paul (who climbs to climb not to get injured, especially indoors where it doesn't even count)

Are you clumsy or just unlucky? I crashed on the same knee 3 times in a couple weeks while racing BMX some years back. It was a few weeks before I was back to normal. Ice and heat helps. Do you have health insurance? PS: I am clumsy and unlucky, a very bad combination. I should be dead at least a dozen times by now.

I did the same thing, Sparky. I ended up with swellbow for about 10 days.
