June is a good month for me also. I live in SLC and could have people stay at my house. I've got lots of floor space, extra beds, and live about 5 minutes from Big Cottonwood Canyon and 10 minutes from Little Cottonwood.

There are forest service camp grounds in Little Cottonwood Canyon ( i assume that is what you mean reno) potties, water and such. There is a fee(minimal) not room for thousands but twenty or so would be quite doable.

That's what I was thinking, Litedawg....how does June 6-9 sound to everyone? That allows ya to arrive on Thursday evening (cheaper airline tix on T/W/Th) and we can climb Fri/Sat, and folks can head home Sunday. This way, for those who need to take time off a 9-5 work, they really only miss one day (Friday) and we still get a few days of climbing. More random thoughts to consider... I'm up for camping, and would like to share the cost of a rental car if anyone else is interested. If any of our SLC members are willing to pick people up at the airport, that's way cool. We'll also expect the SLC members to be proper 'hosts' and direct us to the best places for pizza and cold beers. Gear issues: I assume everyone will bring their own harness/shoes/etc., but what about the rest of it? Does everyone need to bring the rope and rack, or will we have enough from the locals to get by? Let's not worry about sponsorships....let's just climb, and keep the commercialism out of this. Great deals on travel are everywhere...again, contact me if you need some help getting a good deal. Some folks have graciously offered to carpool with other members. See y'all in June. Best, JRB

I will be down for that, if I am around in June. Currently I live in Logan (90 minutes north of SLC). Logan canyon has some great sport climbs of all levels, with good camping, and less crowds than the SLC area, so that would always be an option.

Yeah, June 6-9 works for me as well. I would be able to pick up some people from the airport, and like I said before, I have lots of empty floor space, extra beds, and a big back yard people could camp in if they didn't want to pay to camp up the canyon. I only live about 5-10 minutes from the climbing in the canyons. (probably not much further than the campgrounds are to the climbing).

I am very willing to play cabbie to / from airport. I have a full sized land cruiser so plenty of room to spare. Cold beer & pizza will not be a problem. You guys won't want to go home come Sunday night!!

Well, June doens't work for me, but the mob has spoken! Let it be held in June, hopefully my schedule will work out. Anybody that is traveling to Salt Lake and doesn't mind staying with four respectable college students, drop me a line at rockclimb6@hotmail.com or call anytime at 801-487-6529 I live in house and have a spare room, where anyone can crash, might be able to get you a futon to sleep on as well. I know the climbing scene around here quite well and would love to take anyone on a little tour of the classics. I lead trad up to low 5.10's and sport up to mid 5.11. Would be happy to help out anyone, so contact me, or see you at the gathering, Hurray for RockClimbing.com! [ This Message was edited by: adambroadbent on 2002-01-13 16:51 ]

Hey Radstar, I was planning on buying the most recent information/climbing books on Little and Big Cottonwood canyons right before the meeting. I could then make copies of the climbing areas you guys will most likely be at and pass them out if that would help? Let me know. I have access to a good printer, paper and lots of time.

Ferguson Canyon is a definite posibility, 100% shaded, tons of climbs 5.7 thru 5.11/12 all in a relatively small area, a bit of the bouldering to boot. It sits right at the mouth of BCC, granting easy access to BCC's heaven sent quartzite.

There is plenty of camping areas in Utah especially in Northern Ut. What canyon are you going to climb? Let me know the dates and I'll try and make it. My preference is Little Cottonwood Canyon. But I'll go anywhere. Let me know huh? David

Those dates sound good to me...I will probably drive from Little Rock, and I have a Suburban, so if I can pick up anyone along the way, I've got plenty of room! Looking forward to it! Jules

I'm not from SLC, but from reading, comparing locations, and talking to SLC climbers, I think Little Cottonwood Canyon would be a great place. SLC locals....any input? Best, JRB
